A pre-interview is not an interview. Instead it’s a tricky dance. You’ve told your subject that you want to find out all about them, or whatever it is you want to know about. They want to tell you. They are ready to talk. And you want them to — just not too much. Which they may not understand. But the reason is simple. A person’s story is like a kiss.
